European Competitors (EC) Commissioner Margrethe Vestager introduced immediately that she is stepping down briefly so she will be able to pursue a brand new job as President of the Administration Committee of the European Funding Financial institution (EIB).
“Govt Vice-President Vestager has knowledgeable President von der Leyen about her nomination as an official candidate by the Danish authorities for the place of President of the Administration Committee of the European Funding Financial institution and requested an unpaid depart during the marketing campaign,” the announcement reads. “The President has granted the unpaid depart to Govt Vice-President Vestager underlining that in that interval the related provisions of the Treaties and the Code of Conduct for the Members of the Fee proceed to use.”

Throughout her short-term absence, EC Justice commissioner Didier Reynders will assume Vestager’s duties. And if Vestager will get the brand new place—she is seemingly a number one candidate—Reynders will proceed in that capability till the EU elections in June 2024.
